EGM Statement - 06/Nov/07

Statement from Acting BSA Chairman Duncan Scott following BSA EGM on Saturday 03 November:

“Following an intensive three hour EGM/AGM on Saturday night a number of proactive changes have been made to the current BSA executive structure. Due to a number of ongoing divisions of opinion within the Executive Committee, it was decided by members that the committee should be discontinued and an interim committee put in place until a democratic election process can take place and a new Executive Committee installed. These moves will allow a fresh, positive change following a challenging year for the committee and will preserve the interests of the organisation whilst ensuring its smooth running. I am honoured to have been elected to continue as the Acting Chairman for this committee until the re-elections take place.

“The four new members of that interim committee, all voted in by members during Saturday’s proceedings, are Carl Jeffery, Kevin Cook, Matt Lloyd and Mark Wesson. Each of these people hold impressive qualifications and have ample experience in the running of companies, sporting bodies and organisations. I am looking forward to working alongside them for the next 45 days to create any necessary restructuring and to wrap up any unfinished business that is outstanding from the previous committee. The full re-election process will then occur with candidates for the Exec Committee posting their manifestos and qualifications for all members to see and a full voting process will be encouraged to ensure that we have the best people for the job in place.”

Duncan continues, “A number of further proactive decisions were made as a result of the lengthy, but highly productive discussions, and the new interim committee and consequent Exec committee will be charged with creating a number of new measures and reviewing and where necessary, redirecting areas of BSA policy and the workings of the organisation. Throughout this process, the invaluable and extensive day-to-day work of the BSA will continue undeterred.”

A full record of the meeting will be available shortly.
