2007 British Longboard Campionships Moves to Godrevy

Supertubes Surf Shop and Sol Lager, in association with new beachside bar and restaurant Sandsifter, have stepped in to provide a sponsorship and contest HQ package that will take this year’s British Longboarding Championships (being held over the weekend 26/27 May) to Godrevy Beach in West Cornwall.

Located at the northern tip of St Ives Bay and an ideal longboarding wave, Godrevy will offer a welcome contrast to the hustle of Newquay during Run to the Sun weekend. But that’s not to say Godrevy will be quiet. On the contrary, the spacious lawns of Sandsifter will be offering live music from Glass Shark, DJ’s, a custom car display, BBQs and much more besides. And then there’s the surfing…

Event organisers, The British Surfing Association, are expecting in the region of 100 of Britain’s top Longboarders to do battle in Open, Junior, Women’s, Senior, Masters and Veterans divisions. Some of Europe’s finest longboarders, including Sam Bleakley, Elliot Dudley, Adam Griffiths and defending champ and World Games silver medalist Ben Skinner, will be in attendance, ensuring some exciting action for spectators.

David Holloway, owner of Supertubes Surfshop and Sandsifter Bar & Restaurant, says: "We decided to sponsor the British Longboard Championship because Supertubes Surf Shop has always been about supporting British boardriders and doing our bit for British surfing. It’s only since we started operating the Sandsifter Bar & Restaurant at Godrevy with brand support from companies like Coors & Sol that we can offer a contest venue with the facilities, entertainment package and location needed to ensure the success of this prestigious event. We are looking forward to a long future of hosting events here."

The BSA wishes to thank the National Trust and the Penwith District Council, who are providing part of the competition venue and lifeguard cover respectively.

Free overnight motor-home camping will be available for the event.
